Do Not Let One Risk Run the Whole Placement
Use ASAM dimensions to avoid over-focusing on a single visible risk when planning care.
The teach ASAM thinking turns a vague question into a structured clinical judgment. Instead of asking whether the client seems severe, ask what kind of risk is present, how immediate it is, and what setting can realistically manage it. This protects both sides of the error. Too little care leaves withdrawal, mental health, environmental risk, or repeated relapse unmanaged.
