Use ARCS to diagnose motivation drops in adult learning sessions.
ARCS What does ARCS check? They are adults; they should motivate themselves. Response Adults bring motivation, but design can either connect to it or bury it. Blaming learners hides a relevance or confidence problem. It keeps the facilitator responsible for conditions. Attention fix or relevance fix? Use novelty sparingly; anchor effort in work value. Fast confidence move Shrink the first attempt and show a model. Confidence rises when the path to success is visible.
