Choose the Contradiction Worth Investigating
Decide which source disagreement deserves follow-up before a synthesis is finalized.
Three sources disagree. Not every disagreement deserves the same response. Noor must decide what to do with the conflict before writing the synthesis. What is the strongest move? Separate the claims by source class, date, and scope, then state exactly which conclusion the conflict changes. Right. This preserves triangulation and turns disagreement into a decision-relevant synthesis. Average the sources into a neutral sentence that says the evidence is mixed. This hides the mechanism. 'Mixed' is too vague unless it explains which populations, dates, or conditions differ. Trust the newest sources because recent evidence is always stronger. Recency matters, but it…
