Guardrails Work as a Stack, Not as One Magic Filter
Describe a layered guardrail stack and explain why policy, technical, and human controls must work together.
The teach Guardrails are a system of controls, not a sentence in a system prompt. The NIST AI RMF helps because it forces four questions: Govern: who owns the risk and the stop/go decision? Map: what data, users, contexts, and misuse paths exist? Measure: how do we know the controls work on real cases? Manage: what changes when tests, incidents, or drift say risk is rising? A launch-ready team can answer all four. A team that only says “we tuned the prompt” usually cannot.
