Critical detail What detail should you ask the receiver to repeat back? The detail that would cause the most harm if misunderstood or missed. Examples: last-known-well, anticoagulant use, airway warning, allergy, medication given, or refusal condition. Completion test When is handoff complete? The stronger test checks the receiver state, not just the sender action. Distracted receiver "Go ahead, I can hear you while I chart." The receiver is multitasking during a high-risk transfer.
