Know which endpoints exist before you defend them
Explain why endpoint asset inventory is the starting point for protection, detection, and patching.
The move: treat endpoint inventory as a control surface, not a spreadsheet. An endpoint inventory is useful when it lets a responder act. The minimum useful record connects identity, ownership, control, freshness, and business impact. Identity tells you the actual device. Ownership tells you who can validate use and approve disruption. Control tells you whether Intune, Jamf, MDM, GPO, or another tool can change it. Freshness tells you whether the record is alive or stale.
