Calculate espresso yield from dose and ratio, then diagnose time at target yield.
Calculate the target yield for a 19 g dose at a 1:2.2 ratio, then decide what to do if that yield arrives too fast. Dose x ratio = target yield; time diagnoses flow only after target yield is defined. The common trap is asking whether 25 seconds is good before defining the beverage weight the shot produced. Step 1 Multiply dose by ratio: 19 g x 2.2 = 41.8 g. Yield is measured by beverage weight, so the ratio becomes a scale target. Step 2 Round the practical target to 42 g out.
