Find the Need Behind the Ask
Identify the underlying business need behind a stakeholder's requested solution.
The move: translate the ask into a need before you translate it into requirements. A stakeholder request usually arrives as a solution because people experience pain through the tools they already know. "Add an approval button" may mean approvals are slow, audit evidence is weak, ownership is unclear, or managers are skipping a policy. The words describe one possible fix, not the whole problem.
