Build a Testable Requirement

Transform a vague requirement into a verifiable requirement statement.

The starting requirement is: "Customers should get better fraud alerts." It expresses a desire, but not the behavior, trigger, timing, or test. Tighten the requirement through actor, trigger, action, quality threshold, and verification. The common shortcut is to add more adjectives: "clear, timely, useful fraud alerts." That sounds better but still leaves the team guessing what to build and how to test it. Step 1 Name the actor and channel: "The mobile app shall send the cardholder a push notification..."
