The client team says: keep retrying until the backend accepts the request. Use when backend rejection is already high. Your line Retries need a budget; otherwise the client turns overload into multiplied demand. Unlimited retries can consume the capacity needed to recover. Retry budgets limit amplification and preserve backend resources. Degrade vs. fail Degradation reduces resource cost before total failure. What does request criticality control?
