Respond to “recycling is enough” with a hierarchy-based answer that preserves nuance.
A colleague thinks the main climate answer for a material-heavy process is to improve recycling rates. If we recycle more of it, that is probably our best sustainability move. We do not need to rethink the process itself yet. Improving recycling is worth doing, but the hierarchy says it is usually not the first or strongest lever when we can still reduce the material or reuse it earlier.
