Reveal choices only when the user can use them

Use progressive disclosure to decide when a chatbot should show options, details, or advanced paths.

Progressive disclosure is timing, not minimalism for its own sake. A chatbot can overwhelm users with too many visible branches just as easily as a settings screen can. Start with the user's moment Ask the broadest useful question first: what are they trying to finish, what is urgent, or what changed? Avoid opening with the company's internal categories unless users naturally think that way. Reveal detail when it changes the next action Policy exceptions, advanced filters, and rare paths belong near the moment they matter. If a detail does not change the current choice, it can wait.
