Checkout Progress Is Trust, Not Decoration

Checkout progress is a risk-control signal. Shoppers tolerate steps better when they understand the sequence, the current location, and whether prior work has been saved. Progress indicators are not there to make checkout look polished; they reduce the fear of hidden effort. Good ecommerce checkout labels are specific, stable, and honest. They preview what information is required and reassure the shopper that they can review before purchase.
