Name the Shape Before the State
Model the data shape a feature needs before adding branching behavior.
A boolean is a claim that the world has only two meaningful states. Check that claim. Abstraction is the act of keeping the details that matter and leaving out the rest. In code, a data shape is an abstraction: it says what states the program recognizes. If the shape is too small, the missing states leak into conditionals, duplicated flags, and comments.
