Commit Messages Are Future Debugging Notes

Write commit messages that expose intent, scope, and breaking impact for future maintenance.

The reframe: commit history is operational memory. A commit message is not just a label for a diff. It is the first clue someone sees when they are bisecting a regression, preparing release notes, or deciding whether a rollback is safe. Conventional Commits gives a simple structure for that clue: type, optional scope, description, body, and footer. Type tells the reader what kind of change this is fix, feat, docs, test, refactor, and similar types give the history a useful first filter.
