Turn Incidents Into Anchors

Convert a critical incident into a behavior anchor with context, action, and standard.

Raw incident note: He really owned the escalation and got everyone aligned before the customer audit. CIT to BARS: context, action, consequence, then reusable anchor The common trap is keeping the praise word ownership and dropping the behavior that made the incident useful. Context Name the situation where the behavior matters: high-risk customer escalation before an audit deadline. Context prevents the anchor from becoming a generic personality statement. Action Extract what the person did: rebuilt the timeline, identified the unresolved decision, named an owner, and coordinated product, legal, and support. Actions are the assessable core.
