Separate Job, Role, and Person

Distinguish work activities, worker requirements, and personal characteristics when gathering competency evidence.

Principle: Keep the work, the capability, and the person signal separate until the pattern is clear. The Move Create three evidence columns: job/work requirement, worker requirement, and observable behavior. Put each stakeholder note in one column before drafting the competency label. Practice Lens A strong model can trace a competency to the job situation it matters in and the behavior that proves it.
