Context Is Not a History Lesson

Select PRD context that changes prioritization, scope, risk, or implementation choices.

The best context is selective. It gives the team the facts they need to make the right tradeoff at the right time. A PRD often gathers discovery notes, stakeholder history, and solution debate. That raw material is useful, but not all of it belongs in the main context section. The main section should carry facts that change the plan. Timing Deadlines, renewal windows, compliance dates, migration freezes, and support spikes matter when they change sequencing or risk. Constraints Technical limits, staffing, platform support, legal requirements, and dependency ownership matter when they shape feasible solutions. Baseline Current metrics, customer evidence, and…
