Redline the risk before the wording
Identify the business objective, uncertainty, and risk treatment behind a proposed redline.
Do not start with the sentence. Start with the risk job the sentence is doing. Objective Ask what the business is trying to protect. A confidentiality clause protects trust and information value. A service-level clause protects continuity. An indemnity may protect against third-party claims. If you cannot name the objective, you cannot judge the redline. Uncertainty Name the event that could affect the objective. Is the concern breach, delay, regulatory exposure, customer misuse, vendor nonperformance, or audit failure?
