Critical path thinking is a filter for event urgency. It starts by listing activities, estimating duration, and naming dependencies. Then you find the longest dependent chain to the deadline. That chain deserves the tightest monitoring because delay there affects everything downstream. In event planning, the critical path often hides behind routine words: permit, contract, guest-list freeze, shipping cutoff, load-in window, final floor plan, rehearsal, insurance certificate, menu count, or speaker travel.
