Acknowledgment Before Assistance

Differentiate acknowledgment from generic empathy in a greeting.

The Acknowledgment Test A greeting can be warm and still miss the customer. The test is whether the customer would say, 'Yes, that is the part that matters.' Generic empathy: 'I am sorry for the inconvenience.' Specific acknowledgment: 'That missed pickup is holding thirty orders.' Specific acknowledgment works because it proves you are listening for impact, not only category. It also reduces repetition. A customer who feels accurately understood does not have to keep restating the stakes.
