Think in cybersecurity functions, not random tools
Use the NIST CSF functions to diagnose where a team is strong, blind, or over-invested.
The framework: Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, Recover. The CSF is valuable because every security investment belongs to a function. If you cannot say which function a control serves, what gap it closes, and what evidence would prove it works, you may be collecting artifacts instead of building resilience. Use the framework as a coverage test. Strong programs are rarely perfect everywhere, but they are explicit about where they are thin and what they are doing next.
