Frame the Question Before You Pull Data
Turn a vague stakeholder request into a decision-linked analysis question with scope, metric, comparison, and action.
The first analysis skill is not querying. It is framing. Name the decision Ask what someone will do differently if the answer is A versus B. This turns the work from a report into a decision aid. Bound the population Specify which users, orders, accounts, tickets, dates, or events are in scope. Most bad analyses quietly mix populations. Choose the comparison A number only means something against another number: prior period, target, control group, segment, benchmark, or baseline.
