Separate Observation From Story
Classify debugging notes as observations, inferences, or untested stories before choosing a fix.
The move: label evidence before you chase causes. Observation An observation is something another person can inspect: an error rate, a timestamp, a request ID, an exception message, a failed test, or a screenshot tied to exact steps. Observations are the shared ground of the debugging room. Inference An inference connects observations into meaning. It may be smart, but it still depends on the evidence under it.
