The Handoff Brief

Create a concise handoff brief that defines outcome, context, guardrails, and checkpoint rhythm.

Brief the judgment, not just the task Thin handoff: "Can you handle onboarding?" Strong handoff: "We need first customer value within 14 days, no more than $10k implementation support, and legal review before any contract language changes. You own the plan. Bring risks Wednesday." A handoff brief has six parts: Outcome: what good looks like. Why: why this matters now. Scope: what is included and excluded. Authority: what they can decide and what needs input. Constraints: budget, time, quality bar, stakeholders, known traps.
