Use reappraisal to regulate under pressure without pretending the feeling is not present.
Suppression is the attempt to push emotion out of view. Regulation is the attempt to work with emotion so it does not run the next choice. The difference is obvious in the body. Suppression often creates a stiff face, short replies, and a private buildup. Regulation creates enough room to ask: What is this feeling telling me, and what response serves the work? A practical regulation tool is reappraisal: changing the meaning you assign to a situation. If a senior leader asks sharp questions, the first story may be I am being exposed.
