Identify records that are essential for emergency operations or rights protection.
Essential-record planning asks a sharper question than normal filing: what would stop critical operations or rights protection if unavailable? Payroll authorization, emergency contact lists, delegated authority records, active contracts, insurance policies, permits, and certain employee-rights documents often qualify. The record needs an owner, protected copy, emergency access route, and update cycle. If the copy is stale or nobody can access it during an outage, the plan is only a theory.
