Close a small-talk exchange with warmth, a reason, and a future thread.
You need to leave a good conversation without making the other person feel dropped. Use value, constraint, and next thread: "I value this; I have X; can we Y?" Slow backing-away creates ambiguity. The other person has to decide whether you are bored, late, or rude. Before Looking at your phone while saying, "Yeah, I should probably go..."
