Close the Loop Before You Switch
Use a shutdown note to pause unfinished deep work without carrying residue into the next task.
Do not just stop the task. Tell your mind where the task will restart. Current state Write the last true thing you know. This preserves the mental model you built during the block. Open question Name the unresolved issue instead of letting it float. A named question is easier to pause than a vague concern. Re-entry action Choose the first concrete action for the next block. Re-entry actions reduce startup cost and make the calendar promise credible.
