Use ISO 11179-inspired distinctions to write precise catalog definitions.
Concept versus representation Definitions start with concept; field details come after. Compare What four questions make a definition stronger? What concept? What object and characteristic? What representation? What owner and status? This keeps the entry from becoming a system pointer. Recall Objection: 'Everyone knows what region means.' A steward wants to skip a glossary definition. Familiar words often hide different operational rules. Say If everyone knows it, the definition should be quick: object, business rule, allowed values, owner, and review cadence.
