The Late New Proposal

Avoid unlawful insistence on a late permissive subject during bargaining.

LABOR RELATIONS DECISION At 9:10 p.m., after wages are nearly settled, management adds a clause requiring the union to support a future zoning campaign. The lead negotiator wants to say, "No clause, no contract." What should the lead negotiator do? Flag the clause for classification, discuss it separately, and avoid making it a condition of contract settlement. Strong. It protects the Borg-Warner line.
