Let Industry Shape the Metrics, Not the Gloss
Choose investor-useful ESG metrics by starting from industry exposure rather than generic branding language.
Decision-useful reporting begins with the operating model. Industry-based standards exist because sustainability risks and opportunities are not evenly distributed across sectors. SASB frames disclosure around the issues most relevant to investor decision-making in each industry. That keeps preparers from building the report around generic, low-friction metrics that say little about the business. The test is simple: if this metric moved sharply, would it change how an informed investor or board member sees the business?
