Make Metadata Survive the Data
Apply FAIR principles to design catalog metadata that remains findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable across asset changes.
The reframe: the data may move, but the meaning should not vanish. A resilient catalog keeps the identity and context of a dataset stable while its physical storage changes. This is the working value of FAIR in a business catalog. Findable Use stable names, persistent identifiers, searchable terms, and links between old and new assets. Search should lead users to the current governed entry, not a graveyard of similar tables. Accessible Access guidance belongs in the catalog even when the data is restricted.
