Make the Ask Visible, Not Implied
State the precise ask so executives know what kind of response you need from them.
A clear ask tells the executive what role to play in the next move. Name the response you need Advice, approval, escalation, sponsorship, and awareness are not interchangeable. The stronger your message, the more precise the response verb should be. Add scope and timing An ask without boundaries sounds bigger than it is. Scope reduces uncertainty. Timing explains why the decision belongs now rather than later. Let the ask shape the evidence Once the ask is explicit, it becomes easier to decide what proof belongs in the note and which objection deserves early attention.
