Microaggressions Are Pattern Data

Classify common workplace microaggressions and explain why repeated small signals matter.

Microaggressions become clearer when you look for the message underneath the words. Three useful buckets A microassault is more explicit hostility or exclusion. A microinsult communicates rudeness or inferiority, often through a backhanded compliment or stereotype. A microinvalidation dismisses a person's racial reality, such as 'I do not see race' or 'that happens to everyone.' The categories are not for winning arguments.
