MBO Guardrail: Agreement Before Accountability

Use MBO principles to test whether an OKR is jointly understood and accountable.

Before you hold someone accountable for an OKR, test whether the accountability contract is real. Owned The team can directly change the result through its work and decisions. Owned key results are fair to score and manage weekly. Influenced The team can materially move the result but cannot produce it alone. Influenced measures can still appear in planning, but they need companion key results that show the team's controllable contribution.
