Classify overdue patient follow-up work by urgency and importance before assigning outreach time.
Not every overdue name carries the same consequence today. Urgent is time pressure Urgent follow-up has a near-term consequence if you wait: lost financing window, active discomfort, broken appliance, or a parent confidence issue. Important is outcome pressure Important follow-up protects treatment timing, patient trust, starts, retention, and referral health. Some important work should be scheduled, not squeezed between phone calls. Convert the quadrant into action Do urgent and important now. Schedule important but not urgent. Delegate urgent administrative items that do not require your judgment. Remove or park low-value noise.
