Plain Words Make Shorter Sentences
Replace inflated workplace phrasing with direct words that preserve meaning.
Plain language is a compression tool. When you replace inflated phrases with familiar words, you cut both word count and mental work. The sentence becomes easier to read because the reader does not have to decode what the organization really means. Look for three signals: action nouns, formal verbs, and unnecessary systems language. "Initiate a modification" becomes "change." "Provide authorization" becomes "approve." "Utilize the interface" becomes "use the tool." Use judgment. Technical terms can stay when the audience needs them. But for broad workplace messages, the most professional version is often the one people can use correctly the first time.
