Keep AI accountability in house
Identify which AI responsibilities remain internal even when a vendor supplies the tool.
The move: separate supplied capability from retained accountability. AI procurement gets dangerous when buying is treated as delegation of judgment. Standards such as ISO/IEC 42001 and NIST AI RMF push the opposite habit: define governance, roles, risk treatment, monitoring, and improvement in the context where the AI system will actually operate. A vendor may host the model, provide security controls, and maintain product features. Your organization still decides the use case, acceptable error, reviewer authority, stakeholder impact, data permissions, escalation path, and stop conditions.
