Frame an AI-for-energy project around the operating decision it must improve.
The move: define the decision before the model. CRISP-DM treats business understanding as the first phase because data mining is a means, not the objective. In AI-for-energy work, the business problem is usually an operating decision under constraints: when to dispatch a battery, which asset to inspect, how much load to shift, or whether to trust a forecast during a weather swing. Decision Name the decision in operational language. "Reduce energy" is too broad. "Shift chiller load out of the 16:00-19:00 peak tariff window without breaking comfort limits" is a real decision.
