Design for transfer, then work backward

Backward design protects the assessment. Start with the future use of the skill. Then decide what learner work would prove readiness. Only then choose the teaching activities. In professional learning, this matters because the business need is rarely "people can pass a quiz." It is usually "people make better calls under real constraints." Backward sequence Desired transfer. Acceptable evidence. Learning experience. When stage two is skipped, the final check often measures memory, sentiment, or completion instead of performance.
