The move: Use 5S to remove search, motion, and hidden abnormality from the work. 5S stands for sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain. In a plant, the point is not to impress visitors with tidy benches. The point is to make the correct tool, part, gauge, instruction, and abnormal condition obvious at the moment of use.
