Make the task small enough to start
Rewrite an avoided task into a startable first action with a cue and timer.
The move: make the next action visible enough that your brain does not need to negotiate. A large task becomes startable when it has a cue, a verb, an object, and a short container. The cue handles timing. The verb handles behavior. The object handles scope. The Pomodoro handles fear of endlessness. A bundle can then make the useful behavior more rewarding. Use this sentence: When [cue] happens in [place], I will [verb] [object] for one 25-minute timer, and then [small reward]. If the verb is "work on," rewrite it.
