Interpret a differential expression result row without overclaiming biological certainty.
Interpret this DESeq2 row for treated versus control: baseMean=84, log2FoldChange=1.4, lfcSE=0.38, pvalue=0.0008, padj=0.03 in a model ~ batch + condition. A differential expression row combines effect size, uncertainty, and multiple-testing-adjusted evidence for one modeled contrast. Saying "turned on" turns a statistical association in RNA counts into a mechanism claim the table does not prove. State the contrast The row describes treated versus control after accounting for batch in the design. Without the contrast and design, the direction and adjustment context can be misunderstood.
