Distinguish a therapy's modality from its mechanism of action when reviewing biotech programs.
The move: split the product description into two layers. A modality names the kind of therapeutic product. A mechanism names the biological intervention. The same modality can carry very different mechanisms, and the same mechanism can sometimes be pursued through different modalities. That is why platform language alone is never enough for diligence. The FDA discovery-and-development frame asks researchers to gather information on mechanism of action, dosage, delivery, toxicity, interactions, and comparative effectiveness.
