Translate contractor needs into measurable building-material requirements using QFD.
The principle: preserve the customer's words, then translate them into measurable requirements. Start with the jobsite phrase Do not sanitize the voice of the customer too early. Phrases like 'chips when we cut it,' 'the color moves in sunlight,' or 'the pallet is a pain to unload' point to real use conditions. Capture the words, the context, and the consequence before assigning a fix. Translate into technical characteristics QFD asks what measurable characteristics would prove the need was met.
