Design the pipeline as feedback filters

Arrange pipeline stages so fast checks catch common defects before slower confidence checks run.

The move: build confidence in layers. A pipeline is strongest when it behaves like a sequence of filters. Early filters should be fast and clear. Later filters can be slower because fewer candidates reach them and because they answer harder questions. Fast filters Use formatting, linting, type checking, dependency validation, build, and unit tests to catch mistakes that do not require a real environment. These checks should fail quickly and explain the fix. Confidence filters Use integration tests, migration rehearsals, browser smoke tests, security scans, staging deploys, and performance checks to answer questions that only a fuller system can answer.…
