Use GTD capture and clarify to reduce mental load before prioritizing tasks.
The move: empty the open loops before you rank them. GTD names five steps: capture, clarify, organize, reflect, and engage. For cognitive load management, the first two are the leverage point. Capture means collecting what has your attention into a trusted place. Clarify means deciding what each item is and what it needs next. Skipping capture creates false prioritization. You compare the visible list while your brain keeps interrupting with remembered fragments.
