The first story is usually too confident. NIST SP 800-61 makes detection and analysis a distinct part of incident handling because understanding the event is work. In real workplaces, the first minutes create narrative pressure. A strange alert becomes "breach." A locked file becomes "ransomware." A vendor outage becomes "our mistake." Those labels may become true, but resilience depends on not treating them as true before evidence catches up.
