Use lineage as the incident map
Use lineage to identify probable root cause, impacted datasets, and safe rollback targets during a data incident.
The move: debug the graph before debugging the code. A data incident has two directions. Upstream is where the defect probably entered. Downstream is where the defect can hurt people. Lineage connects both directions. The useful incident loop is: start from the bad dataset, identify its producing run, inspect upstream inputs and code changes, then enumerate downstream assets before declaring the fix complete. This prevents the common mistake of rerunning the broken model and forgetting that a CSV export, feature table, or executive deck already consumed the bad data. Lineage also improves communication.
